In My Father’s Garden By Tiffany Jenkins
Introduction
Throughout God’s word, he shares truths that he wants his children to know, follow and take hold of. As a father looking after his sons and daughters, he tells us these truths to sow, grow, and harvest great things in our soul and lives.
Just as a gardener prepares the ground before sowing, our heavenly father prepares the soil of our hearts to receive. We see the importance of reaping and sowing all throughout scripture. There are seeds of joy, seeds of love, seeds of nourishment, seeds of forgiveness, and seeds of instruction that he longs to sow into our daily walk with him.
It is so amazing to think about a gardener or a farmer and what they can produce with just one tiny seed. Did you know that a farmer who plants one seed of corn into the ground will harvest 600 more seeds from that one, if the conditions are right for growing? If a farmer plants one bag of corn (80,000 seeds), he will yield 45 million seeds from that one bag, which is half of a semi-load of corn. WOW! Just think of what God can do with us if we take time to sow into our spirit the truths in his word. These tiny seeds can reap a deeper relationship with him and others.
So from one gardener to another, take a walk with me in my Father’s Garden. There you will find beauty unlike anything you’ve known. It may take some work on our parts to get our gardens ready to grow but the harvest will be so worth it. Our heavenly father is the gardener and we are the beautiful parts that make up his garden.
Join me each week for the next few months as I share a weekly garden devotional.
Isaiah 61:11
For as the Earth brings forth its sprouts, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
Psalm 119:73
Your hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.
